Pricing

Professional jewelry, diamond and estate appraisal pricing – whether you come to us or we come to you, we have the experience you can trust when it comes to jewelry, diamond and estate appraisals.

Our pricing is reasonable and in line with industry standards. Each piece of jewelry is unique, and we give it the care and attention it deserves.

Pricing varies based on the complexity of the piece. Some may be a higher price, i.e., larger center stones and/or numerous smaller stones that compliment the piece. Total fees for numerous items can be discounted and quoted by the appraiser before any work is performed.

James Farrow Company reserves the right to charge more for a larger diamond, or if the jewelry item is complicated and takes a long time to appraise.

Price will always be quoted BEFORE any work is done.

A large Estate comprised of many pieces will be given one total price, which is normally significantly less per piece.

Approximate appraisal time is 30 minutes per piece.

I work by appointment, Mondays through Fridays. Some clients request Nights/Weekends; I try to accommodate everyone.

Pricing: $80 for a simple office appraisal
Portability is $85 per piece, with a minimum of 4 items

How can a suitable, qualified candidate be chosen? Easy; look for membership in a reputable organization, such as the National Association of Jewelry Appraisers (NAJA) or the American Gem Society (AGS). Of course, most people know of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA)-at the very least, the appraiser should be a Graduate Gemologist (GG). Like any professional who specializes in a given study, Professional Appraisers will have specific tools to accurately write a legal, binding appraisal document for you. Some (like myself) will often do the work in front of you while you watch.
